This modern L-shaped concrete house has really cool design; closed outside but open inside. Although it has large outdoor area (the center courtyard formed by L-shaped house plan layout), every room (except kitchen-dining area) in this modern detached house has its own small inner courtyard. The small inner vegetated courtyard act as private outdoor area inside every room. While the largest garden courtyard owned by kitchen and dining room, inside of each perforation wall, tiny inner courtyard exist and become private outdoor area of bedrooms. This contemporary residence even has built-in terrarium-like for its one of bathroom!
Built in tropical region, excessive openings are not required. This 413 m² or approximately 4445 square feet concrete tropical house only need perforated walls to bring natural light and air inside rooms. The perforated walls act as sunlight protection. The perforation formed in series of triangular cement holes. The series of triangular holes act as exterior wall accent decor beside as air ventilation and sunlight insertion media.
From street view, you can seek black metal fence fully. The metal fence has wire mesh parts for structure in front of carport for car garage. The carport is enough for three cars. The carport has semi underground garage volume with second floor perching volume as its roof. The paving floor made from uncut natural stone slabs with mortar cement as gap filling.
Behind fully closed black metal fence, front house terrace that has portico entrance exist. The terrace floor paving has same materials as carport paving but with different style. The terrace floor paving has rectangular stone slabs materials. Before you reach the door of this three-bedroom house, tiny garden courtyard exists. The front tiny garden courtyard has outdoor void volume above it. That void becomes source of light and air of laundry room, maid room, and master bedroom above.
Right after the entrance door of this modern L-shaped concrete house, stairs area exists. The stairs area is connecting living space of first floor (ground floor), and second floor (first floor in Britain and most of Europe). The stairs area placed right on confluence between two sides of buildings that so it formed L. The stairs area contained in lattice ironwork and glasses structure from wall to ceiling. A lattice of ironwork and glass structure act as joint structure of the building. That latticework structure also become source of light, so inside the staircase, you stand as if inside the atrium.
Next to stairs area is first living room. This front living room behind the garage has small inner courtyard at its side that facing the atrium stairs area. So this first living room in the ground floor has plenty natural light from its two side’s openings. While has direct door to central vegetated large courtyard behind, this first living room has no large openings or direct open to that large courtyard. Perforated walls become partition between inside living room and the central garden courtyard. The first living room has same level as the garage outside, so inside a split level floor created.
From the stairs area, you have to pass short tiny pathway before you reach open plan kitchen-dining room. From the kitchen area you can view front courtyard where portico entrance exist because the wall between kitchen and courtyard entrance installed with huge glass as a window. Between the first living room and stair to kitchen, a bathroom exists. The bathroom has tiny inner courtyard garden almost like a terrarium. You can see the perched volume with wooden cladding that contained terrarium-like tiny courtyard garden that become part of living room’s bathroom if you stay in large central courtyard.
The concrete kitchen design is really lovely. The kitchen has U-shaped kitchen type. The bottom cabinet where kitchen stove and other cooking tools placed has concrete shell structure, including built-in kitchen bar table that act as kitchen countertops extension. Polished raw exposed concrete become accent for this kitchen, so it look like the kitchen has gray kitchen cabinets. But top kitchen cabinet paint color is really gray. The top kitchen cabinet furniture can be great top kitchen cabinet idea for your kitchen make over. The top kitchen cabinet is mounted at wall. Behind it, recessed lighting installed, so it like floating. Pantry cabinet made from wood, no painted, so exposed natural wooden color contrast with gray concrete cabinet.
For the dining area, large rectangular dining table furniture placed along with ten dining chairs. At side of dining seating furniture, a mounted at wall wooden cabinet installed. Next to dining area seating area as second living room exist.
At side of kitchen-dining area, large sliding walls exist as partition between indoor area and outdoor area of central vegetated courtyard. The courtyard really is amazing! The lush vegetation arranged in such way beautiful. Tall trees surrounded by bush plants. Surround the bush plants, sand become materials to cover the original soil. For paving, rectangular natural stone slabs arranged with cement mortar as gap filling flooring material.
At the corner side of central courtyard, wood frame structure with wooden slats roofing become place for outdoor dining and relaxing area. The outdoor dining also has built-in concrete cabinet shell.
Both exterior and interior walls of this single family house has raw-exposed concrete wall surface. Outside, for the first floor (ground floor), raw-exposed concrete walls has wooden slats pattern. For second floor, there is no pattern. Inside, the interior walls consist of wooden slats pattern of raw-exposed concrete surface. The whole interior has modern minimalist interior concept.
The second floor of this contemporary concrete house intended as private spaces. There are one master bedroom with spacious bathroom, two children bathroom, laundry room, and maid bedroom. Spacious bathroom of the master bedroom has separate bathtub, walk-in shower cabin, bathroom vanity, and toilet. The master bedroom has tiny long rectangular inner courtyard for private outdoor balcony completed with sliding glass walls.
Two children rooms, each also has tiny inner vegetated courtyard as private outdoor balcony; of course with perforated walls that connected to outdoor central vegetated courtyard below. The maid room and laundry room has natural sunlight and air through void above front terrace courtyard below it.
